Even as US airlines continue to delay the resumption of flights to Israel, the Ministry of Tourism is launching a NIS 20 million campaign (10% of the ministry’s annual budget) to attract tourists from the US.
According to Globes, the campaign is aimed at a “pro-Israel” audience and includes a number of major events. In particular, 590 thousand shekels of this amount will go to a gala evening in New York with the participation of high-ranking evangelical clergy.
An investment conference is also planned with a presentation of implemented reforms and grant programs for investment in the Israeli hotel sector.
The ministry explains the choice of timing by saying that the goal is to restore tourist flows for the upcoming winter season in the hope that by then the situation will normalize and foreign airlines will return.
