exclusive: After 88 days of being almost completely cut off from the world, the internet has started to return to Iran, and with it the feelings of anger and anxiety of many Iranians who feel betrayed. We spoke today (Wednesday) with four of the citizens of the Islamic Republic, and they are really frightened by the possibility of signing an agreement between Iran and the USA, which means strengthening the power of the hated regime.

“I say to the American administration and President Trump personally: If you intended to negotiate with the Ayatollah regime, why did you start a war? And if you intended to make a deal with them, why did you ask the Iranian people to go out into the streets and occupy government centers and institutions?” Alireza Mashhad said in a special interview for N12.

The American promises to support the Iranian people have been replaced, in the eyes of some opponents of the regime, with a burning sense of abandonment. “Why did you promise us support? You said that help is on the way. What kind of help? Help for the Iranian people or help for Ayatollah?”, he continued. “We held on only out of the hope that you would come to help us.”

Omid from Tehran joined in: “If in the end the plan is to sign something similar to the nuclear agreement, then what was the reason that so many people would be killed? Why did the US even withdraw from the nuclear agreement for all these years, and so many problems were caused to people? These are things that the US should have thought about in advance.”

The Internet did return to Iran, but its absence for 3 months reminds them how dependent they are on this dictatorial regime.

Mohsen of Tehran said that “with the return of the Internet, as in the past, we will be able to continue some of the resistance that can be maintained in cyberspace – such as spreading awareness and hope, and preventing the influence of the content that the regime spreads.”

On the other hand, Serena from Tehran emphasized: “The crimes of those two days were documented and disseminated enough. There is nothing the world did not see, they simply preferred to close their eyes to everything they saw. Therefore, I do not think that opening the Internet will now change anything.”

And if anyone expected that the war would lead to the weakening of the regime in the domestic arena, the evidence we hear is really scary. Following the war, the regime’s repression mechanisms only increase the pressure on many citizens, and the executions have not stopped either.

“The Basij people are still there every night. They gather, make speeches, celebrate, and I think the continuation of the executions is a sign that the regime wants to show the public its power and authority,” said Omid from Tehran.

“But if there was organized and well-planned help, I think the situation would look very different now,” he continued. “These zigzags of Trump create a problem.”

Serena said that “the streets are full of military and security forces who have not yet returned to their bases. And after 20:00 in the evening, regime supporters join them, shouting slogans, harassing people and making whistles and shouts.”

An agreement between Trump and Iran will leave many disappointed – Israel, some of the Gulf states, but also many Iranians who hoped to get rid of this reign of terror after 47 years. And now, feel abandoned.

“I tell President Trump clearly and directly: you could, like other American leaders, turn a blind eye to the crimes of the Islamic Republic – but you promised us support,” Alireza said in disappointment. Support for the Iranian people. We took to the streets with this promise, and gave 40,000 deaths”

“If you still make a deal with the mobs, you will be remembered as the most cowardly president of the United States. Don’t step on the blood of the 40,000 dead. Because history will judge these betrayals,” he concluded.

Omid also wanted to convey a message to Trump: “Let him get it into his head that Iran is not a country that can be dealt with through tweets. You can’t tame this regime like that.”
