Euribors on the rise on Wednesday

The twelve-month euribor, commonly used as the reference interest rate for Finnish mortgages, rose to 2.742% on Wednesday from 2.722% the previous day.

Among the shorter interest rates, the six-month euribor rose to 2.492% from the previous 2.446%. The three-month euribor rose to 2.229% from 2.190%.

During the Iran war, changes in interest rates have been larger than usual. Euribor interest rates bounced in March, as the Iran war has caused upward pressure on energy prices. Expectations about changes in central banks’ interest rates have turned upward since the start of the Iran war.

The short-term market rates underlying the Euribor both follow and anticipate the European Central Bank’s policy rates. Expectations are influenced not only by the European economic situation but also by the global market outlook.
