Thirteen people die, including two children and a soldier, in new Israeli bombings against Lebanon

At least thirteen people, including two children and a soldier, died this Thursday in new bombings carried out by the Israeli Army against Lebanon, despite the ceasefire agreed in April and after the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, assured on Tuesday that his forces were intensifying their attacks against the neighboring country.

The Lebanese Army has indicated in a brief message published on social networks that a soldier has died in an Israeli attack against a vehicle that was traveling on the road between Zifta and Deir al Zahrani, bringing the number of Lebanese soldiers killed by Israeli bombings during the last three days to three.

Likewise, six people, including two children, have been killed in a bombing of a house in Adlun, on the outskirts of Sidon, while three others have been killed in another attack on Al Bas, near Tyre, as reported by the Lebanese state news agency, NNA. Separately, three more people have been killed in another bombing in Qiya, near Sidon.

Netanyahu assured on Tuesday that the Israeli Army is “intensifying” its offensive in Lebanon, where more than 3,200 people have already died from this cause since the beginning of March, despite the ceasefire and ongoing negotiations with the Lebanese Government to try to reach a peace agreement.

The last large-scale hostilities broke out on March 2, when Hezbollah launched projectiles against Israel in response to the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the offensive launched on February 28 by Israel and the United States against the Asian country.

The parties had agreed to a ceasefire in November 2024 after thirteen months of fighting following the attacks of October 7, 2023, although since then Israel continued to launch frequent bombings against the country and maintained the presence of the military in several points arguing that it was acting against Hezbollah, amid complaints from Beirut and the group about these actions.
