2 June, Italian Embassy in The Hague organizes event in Grote Kerk godmother Francesca Lollobrigida

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, tomorrow 2 June the Italian Embassy in The Hague will organize an event at the Grote Kerk in The Hague. We learn this from a statement from the diplomatic mission.

“On 2 June 1946, the vote of the Italian people marked a turning point in the history of our country – President Sergio Mattarella recalled today – (…), a new civil pact, inspired by the principles of freedom, equality and solidarity, driven by an intense thirst for peace”. Starting from the words of the Head of State, the celebration organized by the Embassy in The Hague will be an opportunity to celebrate, through Italian excellence in the world, the values ​​of democracy and freedom on which our Republic is founded.

Godmother of the event will be Francesca Lollobrigida, double gold medalist at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. A show by the Flag-wavers of Assisi is also planned who, in the year that celebrates 800 years since the death of Saint Francis, patron saint of Italy, will give a performance of great scenographic impact. The Arena Quartet will perform the Italian and Dutch national anthems.

Representatives of the Italian community resident in the Netherlands, the Dutch Royal House, the accredited diplomatic corps, the Parliament, the Dutch government and provincial administrations, the numerous international organizations and European agencies based in The Hague will take part in the event.

To frame the evening, the participation of the Italian Chefs Federation, and the presence of 29 food and wine stands, with iconic products of Italian cuisine, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
