Wizz Air will install Starlink terminals on its planes

Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air has announced plans to install Starlink satellite internet terminals on board its aircraft starting in 2027.

Wizz Air has become the first European low-cost airline to commit to providing its entire fleet with Internet access.

Companies that have installed or are in the process of installing Starlink include United Airlines, Emirates, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, airBaltic, British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, Aer Lingus, Level and the Lufthansa group.

On-board Internet does not cancel flight mode on devices: passengers must still turn it on at the command of the crew, and then activate Wi-Fi and connect to the on-board network. Voice calls over the cellular network remain prohibited or restricted in accordance with airline regulations and the laws of each country.
