Ukraine warns of possible Russian attacks with medium-range ballistic missiles

The Ukrainian forces have warned this Friday that the Russian Army could imminently attack the territory with medium-range ‘Oreshnik’ ballistic missiles, which is why they have asked the population to be alert and pending possible indications from the authorities.

“Throughout today, there is a high probability that the enemy will use intermediate-range ballistic missiles launched from the Kapustin Yar facilities. Do not ignore the signals!”, the Ukrainian Air Force said in a message broadcast through Telegram. These facilities are located in the Russian region of Astrakhan, in the southwest of the country, near the border with Kazakhstan.

Shortly before midnight on Thursday, the Ukrainian military issued another nationwide alert for possible missile launches, a warning that was maintained for almost 15 minutes but was not followed by this type of attack by Russia.

At least three people have been killed in the latest crossing of attacks by Ukrainian and Russian forces on both sides of the border overnight, two of them in the Russian region of Bryansk, where the Ukrainian army has attacked the town of Suzemka with artillery fire.

The acting governor of the region, Egor Kovalchuk, confirmed the two deaths in a message on his Telegram account, while Ukrainian authorities have indicated that a 44-year-old woman died while on her way to a shelter during the Russian attacks carried out throughout the night.

The woman worked for the Ukrainian railway network and the attack took place in the province of Sumi, as the company itself has explained. Another woman, also a station worker, has been injured. Subsequently, three people were injured in another attack against the city of Mikolaiv, in the south of the country.
