Trump announced the end of the war with Iran, although Tehran has not accepted any deal

US President Donald Trump said that the war with Iran is effectively over and Tehran has agreed to abandon the creation of nuclear weapons. Speaking at a campaign event for Georgia Lieutenant Governor Bert Jones, Trump said: “I don’t know if you heard, but today we ended the war with Iran. They agreed to never have nuclear weapons, and that’s what we wanted. That was 95% of the whole goal.”

According to CNN, the announcement came just hours after Trump announced the cancellation of strikes against Iran planned for Friday night; according to some reports, the cancellation announcement was made just three hours before the operation began.

Earlier, the president wrote on the social network Truth Social that negotiations with Iran had been brought to the highest level of the leadership of the Islamic Republic and received approval, and therefore he ordered the cancellation of strikes on Iranian targets planned for the evening. At the same time, Trump noted that the American blockade of ships entering and leaving Iranian ports will continue until the agreements are finalized.

However, Tehran said that no final agreement has yet been reached. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai told state news agency IRNA that reports of a deal with the United States were “mere speculation.”

According to him, Qatar and Pakistan continue to act as mediators in the negotiations, but Washington’s actions complicate the diplomatic process. Bagai noted that a significant part of the text of a possible agreement had already been agreed upon, but the American side had repeatedly changed its positions.

“Until now, Iran has not made a final decision on any agreement,” said an Iranian foreign ministry spokesman.

He also stressed that Tehran does not intend to abandon its “red lines” and accused the United States of deteriorating the security situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
