ASUS ROG XREAL R1: 240 Hz gaming glasses in Italy

The hardware architecture is configured as a plug-and-play wearable display system compatible with personal computers and mobile devices, engineered to operate in specific synchronization with the ROG Ally portable console.

The optical compartment of the device is based on a micro-OLED panel which expresses a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a response time of 0.01 msspecifications designed to mitigate flickering phenomena and image dragging delays.

The system projects a virtual screen equivalent to a diagonal of 171 inches with a field of view of 57 degrees, covering 95% of the operator’s focal vision. To ensure adaptability to different environmental lighting conditions, the structure integrates electrochromic lenses that regulate their transparency both through three levels of manual dimming and through an automatic system guided by the tracking of head movements. This module reduces the brightness of the lens when the user stares at the virtual screen and increases the transparency when the gaze is directed towards the surrounding environmentalso having an immediate deactivation function via a single click command.

On the level of spatial interaction and data processingthe peripheral adopts the dedicated XREAL X1 chip, which guarantees the native support for 3DoF technologyor three degrees of freedom for tracking movements. This processor allows the activation of Anchor mode, programmed to fix the virtual screen in a defined spatial coordinate regardless of the user’s movements, and Follow mode, which adapts the projection to the field of view continuously, while supporting an algorithm for converting two-dimensional (2D) content into three-dimensional (3D) in real time. The multimedia sector is integrated with an acoustic system developed by Bose, configured to reproduce a three-dimensional soundscape aimed at increasing the precision in spatial detection of audio sources during use sessions.

Software management and interface optimization make use of a dual control mode depending on the host platform. In combination con la console ROG Allythe device allows the simultaneous use of the two screens, leaving the console display active for adjusting the brightness parameters, display formats and functions provided by the Armory Crate SE application, without interrupting the execution of the programs. For use in a personal computer configurationthe hardware interfaces with the ROG Control Dock accessory and the ASUS DisplayWidget Center application, which enable the mapping of functions via keyboard and mouse, the activation of the ASUS GamePlus visual assistance modules and the use of the AI ​​Visual algorithm for the automatic detection and optimization of color profiles based on the contents displayed.
