Snap has decided to split up the team dedicated to generative artificial intelligence technology for video in a new company that will focus on the development of interactive experiences for games.
The new companyDotmowill be an independent company, with Bobby Murphy, Snap’s chief technology officer, as a lead investor, but Snap will have a significant stake in the stock, and will give up current employees and the license to work with its generative AI technology for video.
Dotmo will use Snap’s technology to develop AI models that can drive interactive and gaming experiencesas reported by the head of Snapchat to TechCrunch and reported by Europa Press.
The split is due to economic reasons, for high cost which involves developing generative artificial intelligence technology for video internally.
Earlier this year, Snap also spun off division centered on augmented reality glasses, which was established as a subsidiary under the name Specs Inc. This week it presented its new product, which incorporates artificial intelligence.
