UKMTO: an attempt was made to hijack a tanker off the coast of Yemen

The tanker’s captain reported that a boat carrying five armed men approached the vessel and appeared to be planning to board the vessel.

In response, the tanker crew performed evasive maneuvers and changed course, moving away from the boat. The ship continued to its next port of call.

An investigation into the incident has been launched. Vessels are advised to exercise caution when proceeding and to report any suspicious incidents to UKMTO.
