The F1s of the sea in Rodi Garganico. Who won

Great show at sea for the race 2 of the 3D Class Offshore World Championship in Rodi Garganico with breathtaking turns and overtaking among the 9 boats competing on the 6-mile course in front of tens of thousands of spectators who were able to watch the race from the beach. This first mixed edition was an innovative formula with the three boats of the newly created “Green Class” category that ran together with the racing cars of 3D, the F1 of the sea. The French of D96 Foresti and Suardi win with crew Italian French Francois Pinelli and Saul Bubaccosecond place Gasbeton D10 with Bacchi Andrea and Giovanni Carpitella. Third position for Tessilmare -D6- by Giampaolo Montavoci and Francis Notaschaele. Next race ad Arendal in Norway and followed by Oregrund in Sweden. At the end of the race the Mayor of Rodi Garganico Carmine d’Anelli declared: “A lot of the public and the national and international press have dedicated great attention to our city and the city of Rodi Garganico is one of the powerboating capitals of the world. Heartfelt thanks go to Marino Masiero, CEO of the tourist port of Rodi Garganico, who has believed and invested in the project since the first year, making an important promotion of the Apulian territory”.

Marino Masiero, Italian promoter of the motorboating circus: “The impeccable organization of the Asd Gargano and the Tourist Port of Rodi Garganico, which have been bringing this sport to the Gargano for 6 years, allows us to team up with first-level public and private partners. I thank the Puglia Region Sports Department, the “Major Sports Events” Office, the working group “European Region of Sport – Puglia 2026”the Municipality of Rodi Garganico, the FFAA, the FIM – Italian Powerboat Federation, which has in its President Giorgio Viscione a true enthusiast and connoisseur of these great sporting events, and the UIM World Powerboating Federation who made this important global event possible. Without all of them it would not have been possible to have such an important return in terms of image and audience.”

The world championship also wanted to represent the value of Paolo Masiero Memorial. Sport wanted to remember a great seaman who was able to listen to the roar of the engines and the spectacular white wakes left by the catamarans in Rodi Garganico. The memory of the figure of Paolo Masiero will always remain in the people who knew him during his life and their hearts still beat with “deep maritime emotion”.

The Italian Offshore Grand Prix is not only a challenge valid for the UIM world and Italian FIM titlesbut is inextricably linked to the figure of Paolo, Marino’s brother, patron of the event and manager of the Tourist Port of Rodi Garganico. The naming of the Gargano stage is a tribute to a crucial figure for the development of sailing and respect for the environment, who died prematurely at sea in 2016. Combining his name with the formula one of the sea means transforming a high-adrenaline sports competition into a moment of shared memory. For the family, for the community of Rodi Garganico and for the organizers of the Tourist Port, the trophy represents the symbol of the indissoluble bond between the love for the sea, the development of the territory and the spirit of the most authentic powerboating.
