Massive attacks from Ukraine and Russia – 8 dead, 6 children injured

According to authorities, three people have been killed in Russian attacks in eastern Ukraine. The attacks in the eastern Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk left one dead and nine injured, local governor Oleksandr Hansha said on Telegram on Sunday. Another attack in the Poltava region on Saturday evening killed two people and injured 13 others, including six children. Russia also reported five deaths after Ukrainian drone attacks.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it shot down 239 Ukrainian drones during the night. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, his country’s military struck an oil depot on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula in overnight attacks. Zelensky explained that it was a depot in the city of Kerch. An oil transport facility in the Russian region of Krasnodar was also hit.

Ukraine attacks Crimea

Four people were killed and 28 injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian-controlled Crimean peninsula. Crimean leader Sergei Aksyonov, appointed by Moscow, announced this on Telegram on Sunday. Additionally, local authorities in Russia’s Krasnodar region reported that a Ukrainian drone attack on an oil transportation facility killed one person on a passenger ferry.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky then praised the “successful work” of the various secret services with the strikes 300 kilometers from the front. “Targets on both sides of the Crimean Bridge were hit: maritime logistics for the transport of oil in the Krasnodar Territory and an oil storage facility in the temporarily occupied Kerch,” Zelensky said on Telegram. According to reports on social networks, there were several explosions and fires in different regions of the peninsula. A fire broke out in the fuel terminal in the port city of Kerch and a large cloud of smoke hung over the region, the Telegram portal “Krymski Weter” reported in the morning. Authorities also announced during the night that the Crimean Bridge between Kerch and the Russian mainland would be closed to car traffic. The port of Kavkaz on the Russian side of the Kerch Strait is also said to have been hit in the attack. There is also a fuel terminal and an oil depot there. Ukraine has been trying for weeks to cut off supplies to Crimea with increasing attacks. Efforts to end the war, which has been going on for more than four years with US mediation, are stalling.

Petrol stations in Crimea stop selling fuel

As a result of the attacks, gas stations in Crimea stopped selling fuel to individuals and companies, authorities said. Russian-appointed Governor Aksyonov said on Telegram that the stop had been in effect since 9 a.m. local time on Sunday. Fuel will only be supplied to state authorities that ensure the operation and security of the peninsula, Aksyonov continued.
