Before the World Cup games in the USA, Mexico and Canada, volunteers carry huge flags of the participating teams onto the pitch. Usually they are placed on the grass, but not at every game. Iraq specifically asked FIFA to keep its flag above the ground. “We have the expression “God is Almighty” on the flag and that’s what our association’s request was about,” explained leader Aymen Hussein.
