Pakistani Foreign Minister: “Passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be free for the next 60 days”

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said in an interview with Al Arabiya TV that there will be no tolls for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days. The politician said that this complies with the terms of the memorandum of intent.

The American side argues that no fee should be charged – just like before the outbreak of hostilities. However, according to the memorandum, Iran and Oman must negotiate the future management of the Strait of Hormuz and maritime services there. This can be interpreted as a legal basis for charging fees.

We add that, despite the agreements, the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Tasnim, the mouthpiece of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, said shipping would not resume until the United States curbs Israeli activities in Lebanon.
