Large waist circumference, high blood pressure, dark skin, poor sleep or unusual hair loss can be warning signs of metabolic disorders.
Metabolic syndrome is a group of disorders including abdominal obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia and insulin resistance. This condition increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes and stroke. The disease often progresses silently but there are still some typical warning signs.
Waist circumference increases
Theo Times of India, One of the early signs of metabolic disorders is an enlarged waist due to the accumulation of visceral fat in the abdominal area. This type of fat often increases when the body is resistant to insulin, causing disorders in the process of using and storing energy. Patients may feel that their clothes are tight around the waist, which often occurs several months before abnormal test results.
Taking short daily walks after meals and reducing sugary drinks can slow the accumulation of belly fat. A 5cm reduction in waist circumference also improved insulin response.
Feeling tired after eating
Initial metabolic changes may manifest as a feeling of fatigue after eating rice, bread or foods high in sugar. The cause is that blood sugar levels increase rapidly, forcing the pancreas to secrete more insulin to control it. Over time, cells may respond poorly to insulin, reducing its effectiveness in regulating blood sugar.
Eating a balance of protein, fiber and healthy fats helps control blood sugar better. Eating slowly also helps regulate feelings of fullness and blood sugar levels.
Slight increase in blood pressure
Metabolic disorders can change the way the body regulates blood vessels and blood circulation. When insulin resistance and belly fat occur, the body produces many substances that cause blood vessels to shrink and become less elastic. At the same time, the kidneys tend to hold more salt and water, increasing the amount of blood in the blood vessels. The combination of narrowed blood vessels and increased blood volume causes increased pressure on the artery walls, leading to increased blood pressure. Reducing your intake of packaged foods high in salt and sleeping on time can help slightly reduce blood pressure.
Hair loss
Hair loss can occur in people with metabolic syndrome because this condition affects blood circulation, hormones and hair follicle nourishment. When the body has insulin resistance, hyperglycemia or dyslipidemia, the small blood vessels that feed the scalp may not function effectively, causing hair follicles to not receive enough oxygen and nutrients needed, according to WebMD.

Skin discoloration
The skin on the neck, armpits, and knuckles is often dark, easily confused with sunburn or dirt. This condition, called acanthosis nigricans, is a sign of the early stages of insulin resistance. Controlling blood sugar through exercise and diet often reduces the appearance of dark spots on the skin.
Poor sleep and hunger for unknown reasons
Early metabolic imbalance disrupts hormones that regulate hunger and sleep. Patients often sleep less, which leads to more cravings the next day, creating a vicious cycle that makes insulin resistance worse. Sleeping on time and limiting the use of electronic devices before bed helps balance hormones, thereby reducing hunger and cravings.
