Pedro Acosta: “Signing for Ducati is an opportunity to learn from Marc Márquez”

The Spanish MotoGP rider Pedro Acosta (KTM) acknowledged this Thursday that his signing for Ducati for the 2027 and 2028 seasons was the “goal” he was looking for in his career, and that he will share a team with “honor” with the nine-time world champion Marc Márquez from whom he will learn above all from his “experience” and “race management and pressure.”

“It is an honor to be able to share a team with Marc. He is almost at the end of his career and I am starting, it is an opportunity to learn from him and collect his experience. He is one of the last drivers of the era of Dani (Pedrosa), Valentino (Rossi) or Jorge (Lorenzo),” said Acosta in the press conference prior to the Dutch GP that will be held this weekend.

‘El Tiburón de Mazarrón’ recalled that the one from Cervera, “due to his experience, collected a lot of information from those legends.” “I aspire to learn from him now. In this phase I want to learn about race management, pressure management, he has won nine titles and can share a great experience with me,” he admitted.

The Murcian was “happy” with his new team for Ducati, “the next step to take” and “the goal” he was looking for in his career, although he still has to focus on 2026 and KTM. “We have a lot to do this year and I am trying to achieve small objectives, which could be a first victory, but I am very happy that Ducati has believed in me,” he stressed.

Regarding the double zero in Brno, in the last Czech GP, Acosta confessed that it was difficult for him to understand what was happening with the performance. “They were things that were not in my control. It will be difficult before Sachsenring, but we have to understand how to give the best performance with the package we have,” he said.

Regarding the Dutch Grand Prix that will be held this weekend, the Spaniard recalled that last year he was “close” to the podium, fighting with the “best” and having his “best race” of the 2025 season.

He also spoke about his experience with the 850cc KTM in Brno, due to the change in regulations for 2027. “It will be very interesting for us and for the fans. Compared to our current power, it is very different, but the first impression has been quite good,” he said.
