The Teatro Real and the Municipal Theater of Santiago de Chile join forces for a “more stable and ambitious” collaboration

The Royal Theater and the Municipal Theater of Santiago, National Opera of Chile, have signed today in Madrid a new agreement to achieve “more stable, ambitious collaboration with greater international projection“.

At the event, which took place at the Teatro Real, the general director of the Municipal Theater of Santiago Opera Nacional de Chile, Carmen Gloria Larenas, and the general director of the Teatro Real, Ignacio García-Belenguer, signed a new agreement to promote both performing institutions.

The alliance between the Teatro Municipal and the Teatro Real began in 2020, during the pandemic, connecting audiences from Spain and Latin America, in order to keep culture alive through their digital platforms.

In fact, this collaboration has allowed Municipal Theater productions to be hosted in Spain, through MyOpera, and Real titles to reach Chile through Municipal Delivery such as ‘Il pirate’, ‘Madama Butterfly’, ‘Otello’ or ‘Nabucco’.

Municipal productions such as ‘The Barber of Seville’, ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Raymonda’, ‘The Nutcracker’ and ‘Carmen’ have been offered on MyOpera, reaching up to 20,000 views.

To inaugurate this new stage, next July a collection of titles will be launched within the application’s special summer programming, which will allow you to watch productions such as ‘Callas, la divina’, ‘Nijinska, secreto de la vanguard’, ‘Frida’, ‘Bodies of division’ and ‘The nutcracker’ for free.
