“Bundesliga Ultramarathon”: 70 km around each Bundesliga stadium: hot start for the project

Shimmering heat, scorching sun and temperatures well over 30 degrees: While many people are looking for shade or to cool off in this weather, amateur runner Alexander “Sanja” Maier started his running project “18 Chapters” on the hottest weekend of the year so far. The 28-year-old started his 70-kilometer lap around the BayArena in Leverkusen on Saturday morning.

In the coming months, Maier wants to run 70 kilometers around each of the 18 Bundesliga stadiums. In total, he wants to cover 1,260 kilometers in his “Bundesliga Ultramarathon”. The athlete broadcasts his runs live on social media. “It’s not about the pace or the time, I want to do the 70 kilometers in the conditions,” said Maier in his live broadcast from Leverkusen.
