Instagram tests new access to ‘Your algorithm’ to personalize recommendations in real time

Instagram has begun to test New ways to quickly access settings the tool ‘Your algorithm’so that users can fully personalize their experience on the platform, directly from the home screen or Reels and in real time.

The social network owned by Meta began deploying the ‘Your algorithm’ tool in January of this year, after presenting it in December 2025, as a new way to “see and control” themes that drive the recommendations in the Reels section.

This is a way to more easily access content of interest on the platform, which extended to the Explore section at the beginning of this month of June, so that you can also customize the recommendation algorithm for this ‘feed’.

Now, the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, has shared new ways to access algorithm customization on the Meta social networkso that the ‘Your algorithm’ function evolves from “a simple configuration” to “something fundamental to the experience” of users.

Specifically, it has begun to test new options to access to ‘Your algorithm’ settings directly from the content. For example, at swipe down the main Instagram feed The menu of this tool will automatically open, where users will be able to select specific topics that they want to see more posts about, as well as add topics that they prefer to avoid and view less of.

Once this configuration is closed, They will apply the algorithm changes automatically. Thus, it is a novelty that allows easy access to ‘Your algorithm’ from the home tab. The same will happen in the ‘Reels’ tab where easy access to the algorithm configuration is also being tested, in this case, by swiping up on the screen.

Following this line, Instagram will also try to introduce Quick access buttons under published images or videosso that users can indicate whether they like that content and want to see more or not, with a single click.

“Some of these functions are in testing phase, others will arrive soon and some may not work,” Mosseri stated in a post on Instagram, where he shared some examples of these new options.

In this way, the manager has stressed that they intend that, over time, the algorithm sits like something that users talk torather than something that just happens. Allowing these changes to be executed in real time.
