One million new ‘scrooges’ in the world, almost half in the USA

Almost a million people have become millionaire in the world in 2025, at the rate of 2,680 new millionaires per day. This is what emerges from Global Wealth Report 2026 of the Swiss bank UBSaccording to which the growth of private wealth reached its fastest pace since 2017.

The United States they concentrated almost half of the new millionaires, with 441,000 people (1,200 per day) entering the millionaire wealth club. They follow China, Japan, Germania, United Kingdom e France. The highest percentage growth, however, was recorded in Eastern European countries, with Lithuania in the lead with +8%.

Today there are approximately 57.5 million dollar millionaires in the world. Over 40 percent of them reside in the United States. A deeper analysis shows that the vast majority of these, around 50 million, are iso-called Everyday Millionaireswith assets between 1 and 5 million dollars, often linked to real estate and pension funds.

The Global Wealth Report

Every year UBS publishes the Global Wealth Reportan analysis of the evolution of family wealth globally. The study examines the net worthadding the financial activities and non-financial, especially the real estateand subtracting the passivity. To make the data comparable between different countries, all values ​​are expressed in dollars.

Who is really a millionaire

The report specifies that to be millionaires in dollars it does not necessarily mean having a million deposited in the bank or invested in financial instruments: for the majority of families the main asset item is represented byowned home.

Growth of global wealth

Based on a sample of 56 countries, the study highlights that the global personal wealthconsidering all asset groups, grew by 10.8% in 2025, marking the highest growth rate since 2017. According to UBSthe result was favored by the solidity of the financial markets and by the increase in the value of non-financial assetsespecially of real estate.

Distribution of wealth

The bank stresses, however, that the benefits were not distributed evenly among the different banks geographical areas and the various ones heritage bands. Growth was particularly marked among assets over $5 million.

Average wealth ranking

In the ranking of average wealth per adult (where the number of multimillionaires weighs heavily), the Swiss confirms itself in first place with 910,382 dollars, ahead of the United States ($696,277) et al Luxembourg ($654,732). There France occupies fifteenth place with an average wealth of 341,359 dollars per adult, preceded by Germania ($346,613) and followed by Taiwan ($332,533).
