Iran announced progress in negotiations with Oman on fees in the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib-Abadi said Tehran is making progress in negotiations with Oman on the issue of tolls in the Strait of Hormuz. He previously claimed that an “understanding” had been reached with Muscat on the issue.

According to Iranian state media, a “delegation of experts” from Iran will be in Qatar in the next two days. At the same time, Gharib-Abadi emphasized that the purpose of the trip is not related to the meeting with American representatives, who are also scheduled to arrive in Qatar.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the key shipping routes for oil and gas exports from the Gulf countries. Tehran’s statements come amid ongoing tensions over freedom of navigation in the region.
