“Putin prepares attack to test NATO”: Poland on alert after US warning

The United States has warned Poland that Russia could prepare a military “provocation” in the coming months with the aim of testing NATO’s “resolve” in defending their allies. The Polish portal Onet reports this, citing sources close to President Karol Nawrocki and security circles. Scenarios also include missile or drone strikes against critical infrastructure, hybrid or cyber operations, and a limited cross-border incursion from the Russian territory of Kaliningrad or Belarus, which could be presented as an “accident”, a “navigational error”, or an “emergency helicopter recovery mission”.

According to Warsaw intelligence sourcesrelaunched by the Telegraph, The Kremlin’s goal would be to provoke a crisis sufficient to put pressure on the Western allies to reduce or suspend military support for Ukraine, while avoiding a direct and large-scale confrontation between Russia and NATO. The operation would thus aim to split the Alliance and strengthen Moscow’s negotiating position without leading to an open conflict.
