Anna Netrebko cancels her participation in ‘Il trovatore’ at the Teatro Real due to “severe exhaustion” and extreme weather

The soprano Anna Netrebko has canceled his participation in the rest of the opera’s performances ‘The Troubadour’ at the Teatro Real by “severe physical exhaustion and vocal fatigue, aggravated by extreme climatic conditions“, as reported by his representative.

After the recital offered last Monday at the Real, Netrebko felt unwell and the doctor, after examining her, issued a certificate in which she prescribed absolute physical and vocal rest for the next few weeks, the Theater explains in a statement.

“Anna Netrebko sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to her colleagues and the public and asks for everyone’s understanding,” adds Real.

Thus, it will be the soprano Eleonora Buratto who will replace the Russian in the role of Leonora on July 6, 9, 13 and 16. Netrebko hopes to return to the Teatro Real in November to participate in ‘Bluebeard’s Castle’, by Béla Bartók, and in March 2027 in ‘La Gioconda’, by Amilcare Ponchielli.
