Malaga Comic Con announces that Disney will be a partner of the next edition and will have Karl Urban as a guest

The general director of San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) Málaga, Fernando Piquer, announced this Tuesday that Disney “will be a super important partner” in the next edition and that it will be doing “very cool and interesting things” in Hall M, the main auditorium of the venue. In addition, he has reviewed the guests announced so far and has indicated that one of the latest to join the list has been Karl Urban (known for, among others, ‘The Boys’), who will be at the city’s Fairs and Congress Center on October 1 and 2.

“He is going to be a super important partner who is going to be with us at the San Diego Comic Con in Malaga and especially he is going to be in Hall M doing, I hope, very cool, very memorable things that we will announce to you as well,” he noted from ‘Panel 0’ of the convention, an event organized in Madrid.

In turn, he has presented the map of the venue for the second edition of the event, which will have, among other things, more ‘Meet the Artist’ booths so that fans can get signatures and photos with their idols (in total, there will be 21 booths, including those dedicated to signatures –18– and those for photos –three–).

In addition, ‘the fan portal’ has been advanced, which will allow attendees to consult the map of the venue, reserve photos and signatures and design their agenda based on the 300 hours of content scheduled “so that they are clear about what to do and do not have to organize themselves at the door that same day.” “(We want) the experience to be much better, that there are many more opportunities to spend a more memorable day at Comic Con,” he indicated.

The next edition will also have an Exhibitor Hall Town inside the conference center itself and an Exhibitor Hall Garden outside, in a new covered and conditioned pavilion of 8,800 square meters. This last area will also host the Artists’ Alley, with more than 90 stands of national and international artists, almost double that of last year.

In addition, there will be a new auditorium built from scratch, Sit&Play areas to enjoy, among other things, new board games before their official release on the market; a boulevard to rest and eat at ‘food trucks’ and water points and recharging stations throughout the premises. “Many people spend the year saving to come here, counting the days, and when they get here what we want is for them to not worry about anything other than having a good time, for their experience to be the best in the world and for them to leave saying that they want to come back next year,” Piquer stressed.

During the event, he also presented one of the posters for this edition of the convention, made by Helen Chen (who has worked on projects such as ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ or ‘Raya and the last dragon’). The artist, who will visit Malaga during the four days, noted that the commission “was a unique challenge.” “There were no previous designs of the characters on the poster, so it was fun to imagine them from scratch. And the architecture of Malaga is so beautiful that it immediately takes you in the direction of that fantasy,” he highlighted.

In turn, Piquer has announced that there will be a second poster – in this case created by John Romita Jr., an artist well known for his work for Marvel – and that it will be presented soon. Likewise, he has indicated that BBC Radio 1 film critic Ali Plumb will act as panel moderator and artist interviewer.

Likewise, it has advanced a credit of 20 euros “to spend in the official store, at official points and on signatures and photos” with the artists and an exclusive drawing by DC Comics artist Jorge Giménez to attendees who have already purchased a ticket. “It is a way of thanking you for believing before anyone else. I always say that love is repaid with love,” he stressed.

MORE THAN 50 SPECIAL GUESTS

During the event, Piquer announced a new batch of 25 special guests with the dates on which they will be part of SDCC Málaga 2026 and who join the more than 30 international names announced throughout the spring. In total, the event’s lineup already has more than 50 special guests.

Apart from Karl Urban, the presence of five of the protagonists of ‘Starship Troopers’ (Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards, Dina Meyer, Michael Ironside and Jake Busey) has also advanced; Natasha Liu Bordizzo (The Greatest Showman); Dan Fogler (The Walking Dead); Denise Gough (Star Wars: Andor and Andor); Christopher Lambert (The Immortals); Kevin Sussman (Big Bang Theory); Karl Urban (The Boys, The Lord of the Rings) and Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil).

Regarding video games and role-playing games, Dave Jones, creator of the classic Lemmings and the acclaimed Grand Theft Auto (GTA), and Jeremy Crawford, designer of iconic role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, will participate in the event.

Regarding manga, the director and screenwriter Whin’ichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samuray Champloo) will attend Malaga; Dragon Ball director Yoshihiro Ueda and Silent Hill music composer Akira Yamaoka. On the comic side, Carmen Carnero (Captain America) has joined the Comic Con poster; Chris Condon (Ultimate Wolverine); Jorge Jiménez (Batman); Pepe Larraz (The Dynasty of X); Álvaro Martínez Bueno (Justice League Dark); Michael Golden (Doctor Strange) and Michael Walsh (Comeback).
