People: “Honor of my life”: Anthony Hopkins releases album

British actor Anthony Hopkins (“Silence of the Lambs”) is releasing a classic album, fulfilling a lifelong dream. The 88-year-old signed a record deal as a composer with the Decca Classics label and will release the album called “Life Is A Dream” on August 21, the PA news agency reports.

“Music was my first wish,” enthused the two-time Oscar winner. He has been composing pieces for decades and many of the songs on the album have been with him throughout his life. The contract with the label is “the honor of my life”. Decca Classics is considered one of the most renowned classical music labels.

Hopkins has released music in the past. In 1986, a single, the love song “Distant Star,” was released, and a few years ago he released the album “Composer” with his own compositions.

Childhood memories from Wales

According to PA, the music composed by Hopkins was performed by award-winning Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the London Philharmonia Orchestra. The songs reflect childhood memories from his homeland. Hopkins was born in the industrial town of Port Talbot in south Wales.

According to reports, Hopkins sat down at the piano at the young age of four. “His immense talent and knowledge of classical music, honed over a lifetime, is a true joy that we celebrate with this new album,” said Decca President Laura Monks.

With the role of the psychopathic Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs,” Hopkins thrilled the world in the 1990s and was awarded an Oscar for his performance in 1992. He received his second Academy Award in 2021 for his leading role in the family drama “The Father”.
