More than 2,000 mines were destroyed in Croatia last year. The Parliament will submit a complete report on Friday

The Croatian Parliament will conclude this week’s session with the Report on the implementation of the Mine Action Plan and the financial resources spent for the year 2025, according to which more than two thousand mines were destroyed in Croatia last year.

In 2025, demining operations were carried out in the area of ​​Karlovačka, Ličko-Senjska, Sisačko-Moslavinačka and Split-Dalmatinska županija. In addition, demining work was completed at the military training ground “Eugen Kvaternik” near Slunj, on an area of ​​4.1 square kilometers. 66 anti-personnel mines and 162 pieces of unexploded ordnance were found and destroyed on that military training ground. During the performance of all demining operations in areas contaminated with mine-explosive devices, in 2025, 1,869 anti-personnel and 208 anti-armor mines and 408 pieces of unexploded ordnance were found and destroyed, according to the report.

At the end of 2025, the total area of ​​mine-suspected areas in Croatia was 1.9 square kilometers, in the area of ​​Donji Lapac and Otocaronac in Liko-Senj County. The area is marked with 194 signs indicating mine danger. Compared to 2024, 47.7 square kilometers were excluded from the mine-suspected area, while 0.3 square kilometers were declared mine-suspected. In 2025, two mine accidents occurred in Karlova and Lika-Senj counties, in which one person died and one person was slightly injured.
