SDP and Mozemo in Sl. Brodu: ‘While some are getting rich, the majority of citizens are getting poorer and poorer’

The parties SDP and Možemo said on Saturday in Slavonski Brod that the Government’s economic policy does not protect citizens, but favors banks, trade chains and telecoms, while the majority of citizens bear the burden of prices and inflation that deepens inequalities.

President of SDP Siniša Hajdaš Dončić he pointed out that for citizens with lower incomes, real inflation reaches 30 or 40 percent, because they spend most of their income on basic necessities.

– The security of citizens is not only a matter of the army and borders. Security is also available food, affordable energy, public transport and kindergartens – and that for everyone, not for the selected’ – he said, adding that the state must actively work in the interest of citizens.

Head of the SDP Economic Council Josip Tica he warned that the Government’s previous measures were misdirected and, instead of suppressing inflation, contributed to its growth.

– At one point, when inflation eroded the household budgets of Croatian households and questioned whether people could survive the month, economic policy makers used inflation to fill their budgets, and large corporations to maximize and inflate their profits – said Tica.

He also assessed that the irresponsible attitude towards inflation and fueling inflation is coming to an end, and that this can be seen from the data on tourism.

– Since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, we have lost 50 thousand jobs in the tourism industry. Why? Because this increase in costs and inflation cannot be transferred to our export markets, the citizens of those markets have another choice, so we see the problems we have this year in the tourist season when we talk about the June hole – he said.

Tica warned that the situation is becoming serious and that all the irresponsible moves of “those who thought that they could make money, fill the budget or make extra profits” from inflation, that is, from the decline in the standards of Croatian citizens, are slowly paying off.

Member of Parliament Možemo! Marin Živković he pointed out that citizens all over Croatia clearly feel the growth of inequality and injustice.

– Citizens all over Croatia tell us that they increasingly feel injustice on their skin, while some are getting richer, the majority are getting poorer – said Živković during the campaign called “At the rate of Plenk’s inflation”, which continues next week.
