Ukraine, new attacks by Russia during the night: latest news live today

Russian raids on Kiev last night killed two people and injured at least five others, including a child, Ukraine’s emergency services said on Thursday after explosions rocked the capital shortly after midnight. The attack is the latest in a series of near-daily bombings by Russia against Ukrainian cities as Moscow continues its invasion, now in its fifth year.

Ukraine: media, ‘Kiev drones hit Russian Engels air base’

The Russian Engels-2 air base in Saratov oblast was reportedly hit by Ukrainian drones during the night, Russian news channels on Telegram reported. Photos and videos posted on social media by local residents appear to show a fire raging in the area of the air base. War-monitoring Telegram channels geotagged the fires, making them appear to be coming from the military installation.

Some drones were spotted flying over the city of Engels, while explosions and widespread power outages were reported. Fires were also spotted in some houses and a residential building in the city, presumably caused by downing drones.
