Turkey does not want the war in Ukraine to spread to the Black Sea. Fida

Ankara does not want the ongoing war in Ukraine to spread to the Black Sea, Turkish Foreign Minister stated in Kiev, adding that Turkey continues to support mediation efforts.

Today, Ukraine and Russia again attacked ships in the Black and Azov seas with missiles and drones.

The Ukrainian attacks have forced Russia, the world’s number one exporter of wheat, to restrict navigation in the Sea of Azov, which until now has been used for about a quarter of its grain exports, Reuters reported. As a result of the day-by-day worsening situation, the price of wheat in the world market has increased again.

“There is no explanation in the 21st century why the war in Europe should continue for five years. Peace is more than necessary today,” Hakan Fidan said at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart.

During the war, Turkey has hosted several rounds of negotiations, the main result of which, however, has been the exchange of prisoners of war.

Last month, during the meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Russia, Fidan stated that Turkey is ready to host Russian-Ukrainian talks again.

Today, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine announced that President Zelensky is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey.
