The customs officer took a 5,000 euro bribe. Charged

After the investigation, Uskok filed an indictment against a 58-year-old customs official suspected of taking a bribe of 5,000 euros from the responsible person of a trading company before the County Court in Zagreb so that he would not file a complaint against him.

The prosecutor’s office announced that a customs official of the Ministry of Finance is suspected of committing the criminal offense of bribery and abuse of position and authority.

The customs officer is accused of having found illegalities in the business of a trading company from January to March of this year, during the tax supervision procedure, and demanded 5,000 euros from the responsible person of that company so that he would not file a criminal complaint against him and that the proceedings would be ended by issuing a misdemeanor order with a fine in the minimum prescribed amount.

“The defendant committed and took 5,000 euros from the responsible person of that company for that action,” reported Uskok.
