Kan: Israel is closely monitoring renewed protests in Iran

According to Iranian unofficial sources, protests have taken place in several Iranian cities in recent days. On July 12, pensioners took to the streets in Tehran, Ahvaz, Shusha, Kermanshah and several cities in Gilan province. They demanded higher pensions, payment of debts, improved health insurance and protested against inflation.

On July 20, video footage emerged of meetings of former telecommunications industry workers in Sanandaj, Kermanshah, Bijar and Isfahan.

Population dissatisfaction is growing against the backdrop of a sharp rise in the cost of living, a fall in the rial, water shortages and hours-long power outages in different provinces.

However, Reuters noted on July 20 that even in the most troubled southern regions, economic difficulties and the destruction of infrastructure have not yet led to the resumption of noticeable anti-government protests.
