La Jornada: Patricia Camacho overcomes hardships with liquid bronze

In interview with The Daythe writer stated that this project was an activity of catharsis in which she rethought about life, health, death and the courage to face the inevitable. “I come to liquid bronze after being exhausted from writing my other book, Visions and momentsin which I describe the process of discovery, development and acceptance of my schizophrenia, as well as a stroke. It was a very difficult period that I consider as a playful exploration, which I learned in a workshop with my teacher José Falconi,” he commented.

Patricia Camacho assured that the highest thing humanity aspires to is “to be in love, since hatred and ignorance are based on not being generous. The most natural thing is to know that one is loved and have the possibility of doing so reciprocally.

“I am quite intense in my experiences, which have been very strong for me. I realized that Patricia, before this collection of poems, suffered a lot. I retired from my job for health reasons, but I discovered that I have not exhausted myself emotionally,” she said.

His period of reflection awakened from the archaic thoughts that make him “feel that one is a waste and a waste. I am a living person, with vital needs such as eating, sleeping, drinking, but above all, loving and being loved. I think that retirement leads us to think that we are forgotten, when this is a resignification of life. I left my job at a forced pace, after a cerebral infarction. It was very difficult for me to continue with my research work on dance.

“Among my problems are that I can no longer walk normally and I have problems reading and understanding what I see, but not what I hear. At that time I was in my workshop with Jorge Falconi and thus I accentuated my ability to perceive sensations in a poetic way. My teacher is an extremely generous person, he showed me the paths and let me decide alone. This collection of poems was born from a work that was very personalized to my needs and creative abilities,” said the poet.

Resignify love

According to the author, the great lesson that it leaves her is that “you don’t have to martyr yourself to create, but rather you have to look for plenitude. I learned to feel poetry in the body. It reminds me of when I became passionate about dance from the audience. If I were buried under a seat in the theater I would be happy. I grew up with the dance of the 80s, I feel that I experimented as if my body were a glass with bubbles, an effervescent pill or a salt of grapes emotions.

“In those years I came to my apartment and in solitude I emptied my emotions with what I called ‘the tamarind pulp technique’, which was to emotionally squeeze myself from the tips of my feet to the tips of my hands to write those emotions in my chronicles, because I was also a reporter for many years. I know what it costs to run from one place to another and concentrate on a topic that has nothing to do with the previous one, with which we deal on another day, to convey it in plain and clear language.”

However, Patricia Camacho assures that her greatest discovery is wanting to feel in love “the rest of the days. That is my natural state. If there is one thing I have to tell readers, it is not to put up dams for love, that it is to the extent that one loves and cuddles. Only in this way do we open ourselves to the world. Many times we put up barriers for fear of being rejected or hurt, but we must not hold back, but rather throw ourselves into life with our arms and an open heart.
