HDBank, Vietjet and Dragon Capital signed a cooperation agreement with the London Stock Exchange to expand international capital market connections and attract resources for infrastructure development in Vietnam.
The signing ceremony took place on July 22 (London time, UK), during a visit to the London Stock Exchange (LSE) by Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of HDBank. The signing was witnessed by the Mayor of London Financial District and the Director General of LSE. HDBank said that the three-party cooperation agreement aims to expand activities to attract capital for infrastructure development in Vietnam.

Established in 1801, LSE currently has more than 1,700 listed international businesses with a total capitalization of over 5,500 billion USD. LSE is also one of the largest bond issuance centers in the world with a market size of about 35,000 billion USD.
Mr. Dominic Scriven, Chairman of Dragon Capital, said that the unit is a member of Vietnam Enterprise Investments Limited – a unit listed on the LSE since 2016. According to him, the presence of more and more Vietnamese businesses at the London Financial Center and LSE shows greater interest in the international capital market. He also expressed his desire to continue accompanying and supporting these developments.

Also on the agenda, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao participated in the opening ceremony of LSE’s trading session on July 22 with Mayor of London Financial District Dame Sue Langley and LSE General Director Dame Julia Hoggett. Closing the trading session on the same day, the FTSE 100 index increased 1.24%, reaching its highest level in 4 months.
Speaking at the event, LSE General Director Dame Julia Hoggett said she highly appreciated the role of Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao in many fields such as banking, aviation, technology and investment. According to her, these contributions have contributed to the growth process of Vietnam’s economy, while also creating more confidence in international investors.
Ms. Dame Sue Langley, Mayor of London Financial District, commented that Vietnam is a suitable partner for London thanks to its economic growth and the development of the financial sector. She believes that London can provide a global capital ecosystem, governance standards and legal environment to support Vietnamese businesses in mobilizing capital. She also appreciated the role of Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and expected the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the UK to continue to expand.

At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said that Vietnamese businesses not only have business development goals but also aim to promote innovation, integration and sustainable development. According to her, London is one of the symbolic markets of governance, transparency and trust – values that businesses aim for in the development process. She also commented that future capital flows will prioritize fast-growing economies and businesses with long-term vision, good governance and commitment to sustainable development, and said that Vietnam has many conditions to receive these opportunities.
According to HDBank, the presence of LSE, representatives of London Financial District leaders and businesses on the business trip is expected to open more opportunities for cooperation between the Vietnamese and UK business communities. This activity also contributes to promoting bilateral economic, investment and financial relations and strengthening connections of Vietnamese businesses with international capital centers.

This visit plays a role in continuing the foreign affairs activities promoted by Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao in recent years. After working meetings with leaders of the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange in 2025, activities in London continue to demonstrate the orientation of bringing Vietnamese businesses deeper access to governance standards, capital sources and global financial networks.
At the end of the first quarter of 2026, HDBank achieved pre-tax profit of VND 6,107 billion, an increase of 14% over the same period last year. ROE continues to maintain at a high level, reaching 24.29%, among the leading group in the industry. The capital adequacy ratio (CAR) according to Basel II reached 16.2%, more than twice the minimum level of 8% according to regulations.
As of March 31, the bank’s total assets reached VND 984,216 billion, an increase of 5.7% compared to the end of last year. Total outstanding credit reached 635,085 billion VND, an increase of 8%. Total capital mobilization exceeded VND 880,000 billion, an increase of 5.9%; of which customer deposits exceeded VND 725,000 billion, increasing by 11.9%. Loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR) is kept below 75%; At the same time, important liquidity ratios such as liquidity coverage ratio (LCR) and net stable funding ratio (NSFR) are maintained above 100%, higher than the level required by Basel III standards.
