The price of the standard YouTube Premium subscription, which rose to $15.99 a month in April, will not change for now, a YouTube spokeswoman confirmed to The Verge. Considering that a stand-alone subscription to Peacock’s ad-supported plan costs US$10.99 per month, YouTube Premium users will realize significant savings compared to purchasing both services individually. Among the content that will be available are popular series such as “Law & Order: Victims Unit”, cult “Saturday Night Live”, reality shows “The Traitors” and “Love Island USA”, as well as a wide range of movie titles.

News of the deal comes at a crucial time for Peacock, which is spinning off Comcast’s Internet services business along with NBCUniversal and Sky. This strategic move allows Peacock to rely on YouTube’s massive user base for further growth. Matt Strauss, president of NBCUniversal’s media group, said the deal will propel Peacock’s “next phase of growth by bringing the service to millions of YouTube Premium subscribers.”
