Sun Group launches ground service business in Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc Airport Ground Services Co., Ltd. (Sun PhuQuoc Ground Services – SGP) came into operation after being granted License No. 72.SGP/GPKDV-CHK by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam for aviation service business. not at the airport. The event marks the Group’s strategic expansion into the field of ground services, while adding an important link in the aviation ecosystem to improve Phu Quoc’s service capacity and connectivity.

SGP is responsible for the entire ground service chain, from passenger service, operations management to baggage and cargo handling and apron operations, tasks that take place in the short time between two flights but directly affect operational safety, aircraft turnaround time and service quality of each airline.

In addition, SGP also operates the Sun Executive Lounge system. (SEL) and premium passenger services, including a future VIP terminal at Phu Quoc International Airport. This is part of the strategy to build a seamless service journey, ensuring service standards are maintained consistently from ground to air, in accordance with Sun Group’s aviation ecosystem development orientation.

According to a Sun Group representative, aviation is not only a business field but also a connecting infrastructure, creating motivation for the development of tourism, trade and the local economy. Accordingly, the Group develops a synchronous aviation ecosystem, including fields from air transport, ground services, aircraft engineering, airline catering, logistics to human resource training, on the same management platform, quality standards and long-term development orientation. Sun PhuQuoc Ground Services is the latest piece in this strategy.

SGP was established in the context of rapidly increasing demand for operations at Phu Quoc International Airport. According to the plan, the airport is expected to serve about 9 million passengers this year, and is preparing to put Terminal T2 into operation with a capacity of about 24 million passengers per year and aiming for 50 million passengers in the near future. This requires synchronous investment in ground service capacity to meet the growing scale of exploitation as well as international service standards.

In parallel, the company is gradually standardizing the management system according to the roadmap to meet the standards of ISAGO (IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations) certification, while building operational capacity and service scenarios to meet operational requirements in the new development phase of Phu Quoc International Airport.

According to Mr. Pham Phu Yen, Director of Phu Quoc Airport Ground Services Company Limited. Quoc, said that SGP identifies people as the core element in the four strategic pillars of People – Process – Equipment – Technology to build sustainable mining capacity. According to him, technology and equipment can be invested in in the short term, but building a team with service thinking, exploitation discipline and operating capacity according to international standards requires a long-term strategy. “This has also been the priority of the business since its inception,” Mr. Yen said.
