Chip companies shake up the Korean stock market again – Relief in the oil market

The main Asian stock exchanges were broadly lower on Thursday as semiconductor companies slipped.

Wall Street’s techno-driven indices, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100, ended the previous day lower, while the Dow Jones held on to a 0.5 percent gain.

South Korea’s Kospi index was down 4.3 percent in eight countries at the time of Finland.

A semiconductor company SK Hynix was down 9.6 percent, Samsung Electronics 5.9 percent down.

The chemical industry company, which was down 17.8 percent, was under the most pressure SH Energy & Chemical.

A Korean working in the leather industry Sleep Chem was up as much as 30 percent after the company was reported to be buying a US smart surface market by Lumia Technologies.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 index was down 1.1 percent, while the broad Topix hovered near Wednesday’s close. Mainland China’s broad CSI 300 index was down 0.4 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was down 1.7 percent.

A memory chip manufacturer among Wall Street’s results publishers SanDisk was down about eight percent in after-market trading, and competitive Western Digital 11.8 percent down.

Slight optimism from the Strait of Hormuz, gold is getting stronger

On Thursday morning, cautious optimism about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz could be observed.

In the raw materials market, the price of Brent crude oil fell below 80 dollars per barrel after Iran and Oman were reported to have signed an agreement on a sea route through the Strait of Hormuz.

Around eight, Brent was down 0.5 percent at around $79 per barrel. The reference price of US crude oil, WTI, was down 0.6 percent at around $75 per barrel.

Gold had gained 0.3 percent to its highest level since June, linked to hopes that lower oil prices would help the U.S. Federal Reserve avoid a rate hike in September, according to Bloomberg.

The futures of the stock market indices are mainly predicting an upward opening for Europe. Among Wall Street futures, the Dow Jones and S&P 500 were on the rise, while the future of the Nasdaq 100 index was in a gentle decline.
