Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, in a message marking Government Week, prohibited actions that could harm social unity and called on officials to avoid rhetoric that could weaken public morale.
“I firmly declare that doing anything that harms social unity is prohibited,” Khamenei said.
He also called on authorities to avoid “demotivating statements” and warned against what he described as false alternatives (“war or negotiation”, “consensus or extremism” and “compromise or warmongering”).
Khamenei urged officials to emphasize Iran’s “power and strength,” saying that highlighting the country’s weaknesses could help its enemies and unsettle its supporters.
On the economy, Khamenei called for greater emphasis on inflation, unemployment, prices, investment and domestic production, while advocating for a reduced role for the dollar in Iran’s economy.
Khamenei has not appeared in public since the start of the 40-day war on February 28 and has remained out of public view since the assassination of Ali Khamenei.
