Auto, Stellantis grows in August. The Fiat Pandina is towing

The growth of Stellar in the Italian car market. This is what emerges from last month’s registration results compiled by Dataforce. Including Leapmotor, the Group increased volumes by 6.2% to 18,845 units registered (compared to 17,740 in the same month of 2025), double the growth of the entire national market, which was 3% and 69,411 units sold. The share for the month also grew, +0.8 points, which was 27.2% (from 26.4% in August 2025). Even excluding the Leapmotor International joint venture brand, Stellantis increased sales in line with overall market growth, with a confirmed share of 26%.

In the first eight months of 2026, with 341,225 registrationsthe Stellantis brands achieved, including Leapmotor, an overall growth of 14% compared to 8.5% of the entire national market, which stood at 1,129,596 registrations. The share obtained by Stellantis was 30,2%up 1.4 points compared to the first eight months of last year. Excluding Leapmotor, sales volumes grew by 6% and the share stood at 27.9% (-0.7 points compared to the same period in 2025).

The ranking of the best-selling Stellantis models

In the ranking of the best-selling cars of the month, there is always the first place Fiat Pandinawith 4,686 registrations and a 6.8% share of the total market. There are also four other Stellantis models in the top 10 positions: Citroen C3, Jeep Avenger, Fiat Grande Panda and Peugeot 208, in third, fourth, fifth and ninth place respectively. “Results – underlined Antonella Bruno, Managing Director of Stellantis Italia – which confirm the strength of our brands”.

Fiat remains market leader

The Stellantis Group and the brand Fiat remain firmly in first place in the Italian car sales ranking. In August, Fiat recorded 7,637 registrations, equal to an 11% share, up 1.7 points compared to August 2025. Also in the first eight months, Fiat grew by 1.8%, with 128,582 registrations and an 11.4% market share. The brand also achieved leadership in the “Private” sales channel, where in August it recorded a share of 11.1% (+2.5 points), while in the first eight months it exceeded 70,000 registrations with a share of 11.5% (+2.7 points), confirming itself as leader also in the cumulative sales for the year.

Also worth highlighting is the growth of Leap motor: in August the brand recorded 851 registrations, an increase of 255% compared to August 2025, reaching a passenger car market share of 1.2% (+0.9 points). The performance in the electric car market is particularly significant: in August Leapmotor reached a 7% share in the BEV market, taking third place overall among electric car manufacturers. Even more significant is the performance in the private channel, where Leapmotor confirms itself as the point of reference in the electricity market with a share of 14.7%, absolute first position among all BEV brands.

Registrations of commercial vehicles and micromobility

In the commercial vehicle market, Fiat Professional confirmed itself as leader in Italy in August with 2,262 registrations and a share of 27.1%, and in the first eight months it reached 29,699 registrations, equal to 24.8% of market share. In August Scudo, Dobló and Ducato occupy the top three positions in the ranking of the best-selling vans in Italy, while in the first 8 months of the year Ducato is the best-selling van with 12,320 registrations.

Fiat Professional also imposes itself in the four segments in which it is present: Ducato in Large Van, Scudo in Medium Van, Dobló in Compact Van and Panda Van in “Car Derived”. Finally, Fiat is the leader in micromobility with Topolino, which dominates in sales of quadricycles: among light electric quadricycles, it stood at 51.2% market share in August, up by 8.9 percentage points.
