Cincinnati Tournament, Sinner Debuts Beating Michelsen

Jannik Sinner debuts with a victory in the “Cincinnati Open”, the seventh ATP Masters 1000 of the season, with a total prize pool of $6,795,555, held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in the Ohio metropolis (combined with a WTA 1000). With a bye in the first round as the number 1 seed, the South Tyrolean tennis player, leader of the world rankings, defeated the American Alex Michelsen (57 ATP) 6-4 7-5 in the second round, thus qualifying for the round of 16, where he will face the winner of the match between the Argentine Sebastian Baez and the Australian Jordan Thompson.

Berrettini out in the first round

Matteo Berrettini stops in the first round of the “Cincinnati Open”. The Roman tennis player, n.41 in the world ranking and in the draw with a wild card, surrendered in his debut to the Danish Holger Rune, n.17 ATP and seeded number 15, who won in a comeback in three sets with the score of 2-6 6-1 6-4. In the second round Rune will face the Portuguese qualifier Nuno Borges, winner over the French Adrian Mannarino by 6-4 3-6 6-1.
