Israel | Ministry of Economy will facilitate the import of air conditioners to Israel

After lengthy discussions, Economy Minister Orna Barbivai announced that she would make the special Israeli standard for air conditioners optional, allowing Israel to import air conditioners that meet US and European Union standards.

Barbieway also decided to include air conditioners in the category of goods for which the importer’s declaration of conformity is sufficient for import, without the need for each batch to be checked by the standards institute.

Israeli standard 994 requires the installation of additional refractory insulation on air conditioners. In this regard, the production of air conditioners for Israel requires a separate conveyor, which significantly increases the cost of production and limits the range. The Fire Department does not consider this standard necessary (and was not originally involved in its introduction).
