Knesset Legal Adviser Sagit Afik filed an expert opinion in the High Court of Justice on petitions against the Ministry of Finance in connection with the transfer of a billion shekels to ultra-Orthodox schools that do not teach basic subjects.

“The Knesset insists that the procedure for transferring funds before they were approved by the Finance Committee is illegal, especially in light of the fact that this fact was hidden from deputies and legal advisers,” Afik said in the document.
The legal adviser emphasizes that “from the vague and ambiguous statements of representatives of the Ministry of Finance at the meeting of the financial commission, it was impossible to understand that we are talking about retroactive treatment relating to already distributed funds.”
