The activity bonus will increase by 50 euros on average from April 1

The little boost of spring is expected from April 1st. And it’s not a joker fish. The activity bonus will be increased by 50 euros on average per month for nearly three million households (out of the 4.52 million beneficiaries recorded in the third quarter of 2025). Good news for the beneficiaries of this aid intended to support the return to activity and offer additional income to low-income workers.

With this revaluation, enacted as part of the Finance Act for 2026 and announced in January by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, certain households – who already receive the activity bonus – will therefore see an improvement in their income. But the number of beneficiaries is also expected to increase.

According to simulations from the Ministry of Labor, a single person without children with an income of 2,032 euros per month has not previously received the activity bonus. After the reform, which comes into force on April 1, 2026, he will receive 56 euros per month.

Another example: a working couple, with two children and an income of 3,566 euros per month, will receive 169 euros of activity bonus each month from Wednesday, or 54 euros more than before. Finally, a single woman with two children, who earns 2,068 euros per month, will benefit from 68 euros of activity bonus per month. Until now, she has not been able to receive this help.

Target workers receiving 1.15 minimum wage and more

It is therefore important to check if, from April 1, you can qualify to receive the activity bonus. The reform of this measure – which will cost the State nearly 700 million euros in 2026 – will in fact specifically target workers receiving 1.15 minimum wage and above, in order to better support this category of the population, who often sees aid reduced once the minimum wage threshold is exceeded.

The rules for benefiting from it? Be at least 18 years old, reside in France in a stable and effective manner, carry out a professional activity and receive a modest income. You must earn a maximum of 2,000 euros net per month for a single person without dependent children. But these amounts vary depending on the composition of the household, the assistance received, your accommodation, etc.

Please note: pupils, students and apprentices may also be eligible for the activity bonus under certain conditions, in particular if they are single parents or if they receive, each month of the reference quarter, activity income greater than 1,104.25 euros.

Furthermore, from April 1, several other social benefits will also be automatically increased by 0.9%, as they are indexed to average inflation for 2025. The RSA will thus increase to 653.33 euros per month, the Disabled Adult Allowance (AAH) will reach 1,042.62 euros per month and Personalized Housing Assistance (APL) and family allowances will also see their amount updated according to of household income.
