“We will continue to put pressure”: a call for a strike launched this Thursday at Stellantis Poissy

“We’re only at the beginning. We still have several months to change the situation. » Jonathan dos Santos is determined. The CGT representative at the Stellantis factory in Poissy (Yvelines) was invited this Thursday morning to the ICI Île-de-France morning show, a few hours before the start of a strike on the site, the last bastion of automobile production in Île-de-France. The unionist came with his figures, and his anger.

Because if the management of Stellantis has promised to maintain 1,000 jobs as part of the reconversion of the site into a multi-activity center, Jonathan dos Santos is worried about the end of automobile production in Poissy. “With these new activities, we will lose 900 jobs,” he says.

To support his point, the trade unionist cites as an example the fate reserved for the Renault factory in Flins, still in Yvelines, also converted a few years ago to a similar model. “They stopped the production of vehicles. Today, there is a loss of employment, and they are going to lay off managers and technicians again. » A mirror in which the CGT of Poissy refuses to see itself.

On Monday, Jonathan dos Santos went to a Stellantis subcontractor. The observation is clear: from October, dismissal letters are expected. And the shock waves, he warns, will go well beyond the industrial zone. “Bus drivers, traders, public services… There will be a huge impact. » Thus, an entire local economic fabric is weakened by the planned end of automobile production in Poissy.

A gathering at town hall at 10:30 a.m.

Faced with the CFTC, which preferred to welcome the guarantees obtained for the future of the site, the CGT, alongside Sud and Unsa, who are calling for a strike, maintains a hard line. Jonathan dos Santos does not hide it and sends a warning: “When the 900 employees are at the door, we will guide them towards management or these people so that they can explain why they accepted this. »

This Thursday’s movement will only be a first step. The unionist announces a new action in June in Poissy, which other sites of the group should join. Until then, the pressure will not let up. “We are going to establish a balance of power, with actions in the factory at any time of the day. We will continue to put pressure, because we cannot accept these announcements. » A first meeting is given at 10:30 a.m. this Thursday at Poissy town hall.
