Internet company Google invests ten billion dollars in artificial intelligence company Anthropic at its current valuation.
According to the news agency Bloomberg, the investment was made To Anthropic with a valuation of around $350 billion. The technology giant may later invest up to 30 billion more dollars in the company developing the Claude artificial intelligence model. An additional investment is possible if Anthropic achieves certain performance targets. However, the company did not specify these criteria.
The companies are both partners and competitors in the development of artificial intelligence. Google has its own Gemini AI model.
Google has already invested billions in Anthropic and is working with the start-up to sell its TPU chips and Google Cloud services. According to the Financial Times business magazine, the parties have an agreement to introduce five gigawatts of data center capacity starting next year.
Anthropic needs money to fund more computing power as its Claude Code grows in popularity. The company signed an agreement earlier this week Amazon’s with which committed to invest 5 billion dollars and later another 20 billion dollars.
