La Jornada: Group linked to the magnate’s family plans business in Venezuela

A small financial group close to the family of US President Donald Trump is planning a $200 million deal with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) in Venezuela, the Financial Times (FT) reported yesterday.

“We believe that many companies in Latin America, including Venezuela, are entering a period in which substantial capital investment and modernization will be required to address years of underinvestment and to take advantage of improving macroeconomic and business conditions,” an affiliate of the company Yorkville Advisors said in a document filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Likewise, the company run by Yorkville Advisors reported this week that it is looking to raise funds while it finds a company to acquire “in Latin America and Venezuela.”

Yorkville, which remains close to the Trump family, through its executives helped Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) raise $2.5 billion for the acquisition of bitcoins while agreeing to an agreement to launch five funds traded on the US stock market under the name “America First.”

A member of Yorkville’s board of directors became, in August 2025, executive leader of a SPAC supported by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. with the intention of merging it with a United States producer of which the American media did not give further details.

SPACs are shell companies that list on the stock market, obtain resources and subsequently locate and buy an existing company. These serve as an alternative means to reach public markets without the need for an initial public offering, the FT explained.
