“Customers who do not come to the resource center”: the second hand of associations to conquer shopping centers

Long confined to resource centers and city centers, second-hand associations are now setting up in shopping centers. “Since 2021, for two months each year, our pop-up store allows us to raise awareness among shopping center customers about the circular economy and second-hand goods, while introducing people to our resource center and the social and solidarity economy,” explains Franck Burel, operational director of employment and integration of the Arile association. Installed before the end-of-year holidays at the Les Saisons shopping center, in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne), this store also serves as a life-size immersion site for employees in integration.

A source of financing that has also become vital. “Today, faced with the drop in subsidies from the State and departments, it is a way of self-financing support for people in integration. We must also ensure our operating costs, which are increasing sharply,” emphasizes Franck Burel.
