Bank of Israel allows contactless cash withdrawals from ATMs

By July 2027, contactless withdrawals should be available at ATMs that support the required technology, but only at the bank where the customer’s account is opened.

By December 2027, cross-withdrawal should be possible: any customer will be able to use any compatible ATM, regardless of bank.

From June 2027, no new ATMs will be installed without contactless technology support. By the end of 2030, all existing ATMs will be re-equipped.

Currently, about 50% of ATMs in Israel technically already support contactless cash withdrawals, but do not use it due to lack of permission. The remaining ATMs require hardware replacement, which is especially important for older ATMs in kiosks, tobacco stores and gas stations owned by private operators.
