Chemical KV strike: Natural gas supply line in the Linz chemical park paralyzed

“Our approach is a reaction to the employers’ outrageous offer. Not presenting a single acceptable offer in seven rounds leads to corresponding reactions from the employees,” said the managing director of the GPA Upper Austria, Wolfgang Gerstmayer, to the WHAT. Strike measures will continue in other companies next week; depending on how the negotiations progress, an indefinite strike is also possible.

The seventh round of collective bargaining negotiations for the chemical industry was interrupted yesterday, Wednesday, after 14 hours without a result. The next round of negotiations is scheduled to start on June 11th at 2 p.m., until then the union has announced temporary strikes in the companies. The employee side is demanding a wage and salary increase of 3 percent.

The approximately 230 companies in the chemical industry with more than 50,000 employees are active in various areas, including the production of pharmaceuticals, plastics and plastic products, fibers, paints, fertilizers and organic and inorganic chemicals.
