La Jornada: The American Society repudiates the boycott of the Mexico-US relationship

The American Society (Amsoc), an organization that brings together companies from Mexico and the United States, “distanced itself” from those seeking to boycott the binational relationship, although it maintained the approach of creating a treaty to fight crime.

“I distance myself from all those who seek to boycott this relationship and even those who seek to boycott the work done in Mexico and the United States,” said Larry Rubin, who is also a representative of the Republican Party.

Last Saturday, Amsoc called a dinner, attended by the leaders of the PRI, PAN, as well as members of the PVEM and MC. However, he indicated that Karen Castrejón, leader of the Green, and the Morenoist senator Alejandro Murat also attended. The gala was co-sponsored by companies of the Salinas Group, which is owned by Ricardo Salinas Pliego.

“There is no room for extremes, we believe that we all have to work for the same goal, which is for the benefit of our communities,” he said after indicating that the Mexican president was also invited, as well as members of her cabinet, but the agendas did not coincide. He noted that Ariadna Montiel, leader of Morena, was also invited, but she did not attend due to the elections in Coahuila.

Rubin commented that the dinner offered on Saturday was open to all political figures, since they only had to pay 6,300 pesos. He noted that the central objective was “to strengthen the relationship between our two nations.

“It was a success to bring together representatives from practically the entire political spectrum, from the diplomatic corps, the business sector, social organizations and civil society, also opinion leaders, as well as all the political parties on both sides,” he indicated.

“Mexico has to be united, the United States has to be united and, more importantly, the two countries have to be united, respecting sovereignty, which is very important, but we have to be united in how we work, what we do together.”

He indicated that the anti-crime treaty was proposed. “A framework of deep cooperation between our nations with clear objectives, shared responsibilities and the determination to confront a transnational phenomenon together,” he said.
